Naval Mil Band Special Drum Music - Beating Retreat 2016

Beating Retreat officially denotes the end of Republic Day festivities.

It is conducted on the evening of January 29 - the third day after the Republic Day and is performed by the bands of the three wings of the military - the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

The venue is Raisina Hills and an adjacent square, Vijay Chowk, flanked by the North and South block of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's Palace).

Here is the video of the Naval Mil Band, Special Drum Music lead by U S Prasad. Admirals Ensignia-II.

The Chief Guest of the function is the President of India who arrives escorted by the 'President's Bodyguards' (PBG), a cavalry unit.

The ceremony was started in the early 1990s, when Major Roberts of the Indian Army developed a display by the massed bands in which Military Bands - Pipes and Drum Bands, Buglers and Trumpeters - from various Army Regiments along with bands from the Navy and Air Force take part.

They play popular tunes like Abide With Me, Mahatma Gandhi's favourite Hymn, and Saare Jahan Se Achcha.

Peace,
Jai Hind.

Peacock displaying and closing its full plumage

Peacock closing its full plumage.

The peacock is one of the natural world's most elaborate and showy males, mustering its physical resources to wow potential mates with its enormous and gaudy, fan-like tail plumage. The Indian peacock has iridescent blue and green plumage.

I work at the Tech Mahindra, Bahadurpally campus where there is a bird sanctuary in the office premises with many different kinds of birds being placed in a natural environment.

On a Sunny afternoon when I was taking a little break from the work to walk in the park, to my amusement I see a Peacock opening its plumage and dancing in front of a Peahen. I took out my phone out and started recording and then the most beautiful moment of the Peacock closing its plumage has happened.

Below is the video of the Peacock displaying his plumage and closing it.

Hail Fall in Hyderabad!

Hail Fall in Hyderabad

Hail is a form of solid precipitation. It consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice, each of which is called a hailstone.

Today I experienced Hail fall for the first time. I was at my friends house, just 2 minutes of walking distance from my house. We were preparing some PPT's for the seminar. Suddenly we notice that it is raining heavily outside. And then the power went off.

There was a different kind of sound now like stones being thrown on the roof, so I come out to the balcony just to see 1-2 cm sized ice cubes falling from the sky like raindrops. Then I realize that this is what is called as the hail fall or hail storm.

I quickly opened my phone camera and recorded it. Here is the video.

And that's how I experienced hail fall for the first time  on 6th April 2012.
